Wauseon Community Church gathers each Sunday morning to sing, pray, give, and learn from God’s Word with live music, personal prayers, investment, and spiritual formation. We don’t pretend to be anything other than who we are. You could wear a suit or a fancy dress (if you want); but most of us will be in jeans and a comfy shirt. Enjoy the casual atmosphere. Like many churches, you can grab a coffee, sit with friends, and sing along with live music.

Community isn’t just a part of our name; it’s a big part of who we are! We believe God put us here for a reason. We focus on three strategies to accomplish the mission God has given us: invite, invest, and involve. This means we invite people to come. We invest in the ministry through our giving. And we involve as many people as we can in all that God is doing among us.

We have special weekly activities just for kids and teens. They’re invited to enjoy the live music with everyone else upstairs. When Kids Church begins, they have hands-on lessons and activities just for their age.

Our congregation, Wauseon Community Church, has a unique history as well, which eventually includes you! It began in 1998 with a group who worked to establish a new church. Our first pastor was Steve Suttles. There had previously been a Church of the Nazarene in Wauseon; but it closed due to a number of concerns. Steve Suttles planted this new church and led until about 2003 when he moved to New Mexico to plant another church. Travis Sears was our next pastor, here for a little over a year, when he became a military chaplain. Around 2004, Tim Moebs became pastor. Though the congregation had no money and few people, the Lord blessed Tim’s efforts and those of the congregation as we grew over the following years. Around 2017, Tim returned to live near his family. Our next pastor was Brian Grimm. Pastor Brian led the congregation through the global pandemic of COVID-19. Like many others, we were forced to make many quick and painful changes. Brian retired and we were without a pastor for almost a year and a half. Currently, Steve Baney is pastor of Wauseon Community Church, since February, 2023. Steve is pictured here in the red shirt, along with Mike Haley, one of our board members.
