Anne Bradstreet was born in Northampton, England, married at sixteen, she and her husband migrated to Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630, at the time of its founding. Anne Bradstreet was the most prominent of early English poets and she is the first Puritan figure in American Literature. She was the first writer in England's North American colonies to be published.
